U.S. Tariff Adjustment on Pakistani Imports

On August 1, 2025, the United States implemented a 19% reciprocal tariff on imports from Pakistan under a new executive order. This rate represents a reduction from the initial 29% tariff announced in April 2025, following successful trade negotiations between the two governments.

By contrast, Indian exports to the U.S. currently face a 25% tariff, positioning Pakistani exporters with a 6% tariff differential advantage in the American market. This revised rate may enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani goods, particularly in the textile and apparel sectors, which constitute a significant portion of exports to the U.S.

Businesses are advised to assess the potential impacts of this tariff shift on pricing strategies, market share, and trade logistics in light of evolving U.S. trade policies.
